It has come to my attention that two inactive members, (inactive by I mean, haven't even posted) devour and Dwolfman have been utilizing the arcade for quite some time as demonstrated by their high scores. Now I cannot restrict them because they are already joined up, I cannot restrict the number of posts they have in order to access this feature on the boards. I'm just holding a poll to see what people think of taking away the feature.

Ideally the purpose of joining a community means you should have some desire to join in with what's happening there. There's always things you 'll like more than others and not everyone will do everything, so be it. But if people join and don't do something in said community (in a contributory manner as per site rules) then I say these members have proven they don't want to be there, and I say they need to be gotten rid of. The arcade etc should be for members OVER a certain post count (I know you said that's not possible to police but I'm speaking ideally okay?). To me the arcade etc is like something extra to the site, it's like the rewards system. Why give perks to people that don't want to be here?
Get rid of them I say.
The previous discussion a few weeks back about deleting inactive accounts should stand. Post at least once a month (at the very least) or be deleted. The rest of us have busy lives and can still participate in some fashion. If someone's going away for a few weeks that's a different matter, but I'm referring specifically to people whod' rather find excuses than reasons to post. Too busy to post? Fine. We're too busy to care. Post excuses elsewhere to people who actually give a crap. Join up if you want to join in. Don't post then bye-bye. End of story, I say, period.
Agreed 100% with Rav. Ban them, but don't take the whole arcade away just because of them.

"We’ve never tried to come off as better than our fans, our fans... when they come to see us play, they’re actually a part of, you know, us playing. Sonny, the way he is on stage, he connects with them, emotional and in every kind of way you can imagine, you know, musically, and I think that they can see that it’s not, you know, a put on, it’s not something that’s fake, it’s real." - Mark Daniels of P.O.D.
TBH I've never been in there, not once, and I don't care to. Simply put, it's not my thing. I'm glad it's there though to give others something else to do - sometimes we don't always want to rant or even care if we talk much to others. Killing some time and blowing off steam in the Arcade is better than not coming here at all - but the point still stands, it shouldn't be the be-all and end-all of the site. It's the rewards FOR posting elsewhere on the site and NOT just posting random crap for the hell of it or bump up post count. We may be a busy bunch but we're still watching the posts. Rules are there for a reason. People who have no respect for the rules or the site need to go elsewhere to get their kicks.
And just on a side note Jack, well done on the recent members message. Long overdue
Things like this are bound to happen, I voted yes because actual members should have the titles for games. It seems almost pointless to have otherwise. On the 5 posts a month rule, a do apologize for not posting, I have been working really hard on fixing all the problems in my life and I've done a good job. So I think I shall stick around and become active again!
That's ok. It's merely ponted mainly at members who lurk on Quills, ignore warnings from the moderating team and myself to be more active, and do not post. I know that everyone has lives outside Quills, but it's just a nice but serious reminder to those minority of members.

fair enough to. Lurkers are annoying. On my site there is a lurker who frustrates me, but the rest of the staff don't want a rule against that kind of thing (since it doesn't really affect anyone).
I'm sorry about that score...I was going through some problems and...well...I wanted something to ignore this problem and well....yeah. I'm sorry. And about the games...well...Tetris is the only game I lilke on there to be honost. So if you guys want to delete the game then go ahead.
LOL yeah but still. I feel bad that I am part of the problem. (I think I started the problem...did I?)
(and I finally read the posts. I was lazy to read them. Sorry) But I do agree with CC. You should ban the people who are inactive/lurkers/anyone who is just posting in one thread. Oh and I have to PM you Jack about the upcoming two weeks!
I'd be contributing more here if i actually had my computer to myself and wasn't working nights, once back at uni i'll be more active, being up at silly hours and the like. So i'd kinda prefer not to lose my account here.

^ I understand completely where you're coming from, a few months ago that was me. As far as I'm concerned if you have a legitimate reason for posting infrequently (such as work etc) then there's no problem, you shouldn't be penalised because real life has to come first. This action is primarily against people who are seen on the site at length who don't post at all, just read, and those that join up and say nothing. As Jack and I have said, it's the people that don't contribute to the site that don't belong here. I don't think posting once a week at minimum is asking too much. By taking the time to register at a site, any site, you're essentially agreeing to join a community of other like-minded souls. If all of us, members and staff included, decided we didn't feel like posting anymore this place would go downhill pretty fast. It's not a big place but some of us like it. Bottom line we should all be carrying the weight, not just a select few. By not posting, or logging in only to read and log out again, you're essentially telling us you don't want to be part of this site, and so be it. The members we have are what make this site what it is. We don't need freeloaders weighing us down. This is not a library. It's a forum. That's my two cents anyway.
(BTW that was not aimed at you Devilsnight2003, I was addressing everyone generally, just so you don't feel like you were being singled out. You're not ;))

Matt, like Ravy said, we know that real life comes first and if you have a reason not to be posting, that's valid, we feel no need to punish those members. We do feel the need to punish those who sign up and don't contribute to a community. This thread was aimed at the particular members who have signed up, no posting contribution towards the community whatsoever and abuse the features that were intended as a reward for the contributing members.
And plus, we talk on the phone time to time and I hear your complaints about being so busy so I know what you're up to half the time.
